To WW, Ann, & Cheryl
At the statewide election in 1998, Broomfield voters voted 62% in favor of the city & county of Broomfield constitutional amendment. This is the will of Broomfield's voters. Impacts on Westminster and Jefferson County? A miniscule amount of revenue will be lost to Jefferson County. This will be more than off-set by the fact Jefferson County will no longer need to provide any services for Broomfield. No public open space has been lost as a result of Broomfield becoming a county. The jail is not being built in any designated public open space area. The Carlson property would have been annexed by Broomfield regardless of Broomfield's county status. What real impacts are there? You are using a double standard. The same arguments you use for CVELG's process apply to the process used by Broomfield citizens. Why am I opposed to what CVELG's doing? Because I believe it is petty and self-serving and it is contrary to the expressed will of Broomfield's voters who voted 62% in favor the city and county at the 1998 statewide election. It takes a tremendous effort to become a fully functioning combined city and county. I would rather see Broomfield be able to focus on this rather than having to fight a repeal effort that is based on pettiness. A corrupt process? That's your opinion as distorted as it may be. It is also very wrong. I don't know what Broomfield citizens may oppose CVELG. I may be the only one. I would like to know if you are a Superior resident. If you don't want to answer the question, I understand. By BBW |

I could live in Superior. I could live in Boulder. I could live in Denver. I could be your next door neighbor. Where I reside does not matter. (You have asked that question before. What relevance is it?) It is not a double standard, as you are comparing apples to oranges. No one denies that a few Broomfield citizens were involved in the county effort. (How many were paid volunteers???) However, the county effort was created, promoted, and run by Broomfield government. Apples and Oranges. CVELG is not elected officials. You are. But really, continue to say the repeal effort is petty and insignificant and a waste of time. Keep your head alternately stuck in the clouds and the sand. Meanwhile, citizens are listening to CVELG's argument: the county issue deserves another look. You see, citizens understand the concept here. It is shameful that elected officials don't. Those officials don't deserve the privilege of being involved in American Government. All CVELG asks is that citizens make a more informed vote. The citizens of the state will decide what was corrupt. You refuse to answer why that would be a problem. But, we already know the answer. Your dodging speaks volumes. By CCACCC |
