Sorry

to any member of jaycees if you feel we have wronged you or any post here have made you feel uncomfortable. I want them and all other people that run a haunted house to know that we are not against you. All of us should stick together to keep this wonderful tradition of haunted houses going on.

Nothing against

We have nothing against Jaycees. In fact we went there last weekend and had a blast. This is not a debate against them in anyway. This is against the city and what is fair for one should be fair for all.

Where the money was to go

The main purpose of our Haunted Shop was the High School food drive and $1 of every entry was going to The American Red Cross. The remaining $5 would go to pay back all of the investors that spent money to make this attraction possible. We seriously doubt that enough money would have been made to even come close to cover the cost of insurance, props, materials, lighting, and other misc. costs. We were NEVER in this to make a profit. Any other haunted house oprerator knows the cost of doing such a large project and the likelyhood of never recoping you costs.

A ''temporary'' hanuted house has many cost to get it up and going and I'm sure there are no other haunted house operators who are paying this out of pocket and not recoping their expenses before donating to a charity.

My feeling is even if a haunted house makes a profit (which we were unlikely to do) from doing this, is that really a crime? Any way you slice it, this is a business just like any other that makes a profit. We provide a service, you have good time, and we possibly put a little in our pocket. Who or what made that a crime for haunted houses?

follow the money

what was your projection? 2000 admissions x $5 = $10000.

your charity angle was good, but it appears your business plan did not cover all the angles - like making sure you were absolutely approved by the authorities that allow this thing to happen - close but no cigar.

if i remember, past private haunted houses were out in the rural county.
