life has an awful twist

Life sure has a way of kicking us in the butt, doesn't it? I made a stupid decision today. One that I can't take back. I decided to let our beloved dog go with me to pick up my son from school. I was getting her out of her pen, asking her if she wanted to go bye-bye. She broke away from me & ran right in to the path of a van. It wasn't the driver's fault. She was gone within 2 minutes. She died in my arms. The driver felt so bad.
Our family is devastated. MY 14 yr. old son said it best. ''Thank God I was able to cuddle with her last night, that I told her I loved her & played with her & gave her a belly rub this morning before I left for school.'' That's what is important, the love we show the people in our lives; friends, family & beloved pets. She was gone in the blink of an eye. There is no turning the clock back.
Someone here said I was a ''self-appointed'' something. I'm nothing of the sort. I just care for the people that touch me & I can connect with & hope for the same treatment. That's all. If I came across as ''feeling/sounding superior!'', I'm truly sorry. I'm just a person like everyone else. That's all. A very sad & humble human being tonight. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was on a soap box. I didn't mean it.

I'm sorry

I'm sorry for your families loss. Don't beat yourself up for taking your family pet with you, though. While I am not at all for pets(or phones) in a car, you are not to blame for your dog running wild. Regardless of what people think, dogs and cats are NOT domestic animals. They are wild. Your dog jumping outta the car and running into traffic is not your fault. It's no ones fault. It's just the way it is.

My heart goes out to you. DO NOT beat yourself up over this. I'm sure my words mean little at a time like this, but DO NOT rack yourself with guilt. Boys will be boys, and dogs will be dogs.

I will have thoughts of you and your family tonight. Keep the faith.

I'm so sorry

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. It's very difficult to lose a cherished family pet, and especially hard for children.

My thoughts are with you and your family. And hopefully, when and if the time is right for you, you'll be able to give a home to another animal who needs your love.

bye bye is right

How about a leash. Still would have had the dog. Pet owners, be responsible and accountable. Pretty simple.
