Smoking related illness costs millions per year. This guy watched his friend die. He was moved by this experience to make the policy at his company. It's not about trying to manage your lifestyle..outside what it might cost him and his company $$$$$

What he wants is healthy employees. Maybe after he tackles the cigaretts and alcohol, he'll go after bad eaters...who knows. Again, his company, his choice.

As long as the currently employed smokers were given some time, opportunity, and support to quit, it's their choice now.

I still don't know how it's going to be monitored, so that kind of concerns me.

how far can it go?

So rationalisation says if it costs someone extra money that someone has the right to eliminate the risks from his company. When what he wants to eliminate is perfectly legal. So car accidents also cost insurance millions so the employer says you had a car accident you can't work here! Or your son got hit in the mouth in a base ball game now any one playing with bats gets canned? When will it stop? That kind of cr*p should be illigal! What they are doing is perfectly legal. When and if its not, then he should have the right to do something. Humm, I wonder if he ever hired an illegal alien?

And then,

Look @ the places that look @ your credit rating to see if you would make a good employee? I'm not so real sure that, that holds any water @ all! Especially when some people with a bad credit rating/history, need a job reaaaaaaaaaaally bad!
