Bush & Obumbler:
No they are not equivelant.
Study their behavior, backgrounds, intentions, methods. They are far from equivelant. The most important difference: Bush wanted the best for our country; Obumbler wants to punish our country.
There is a big difference between the intentions behind TARP and Stimulus. TARP was directed at saving financial institutions from failure. Stimulus is directed at increasing jobs by improving the economy.
By the way, TARP was passed under George W. Bush, not Obama. But most of the bucks have been doled out under Obama.
And the latest CBO TARP watch report (issued last Feb./Mar.) indicates the program will cost the taxpayers about $19 billion (quite a bit less than 852 billion you state). The outstanding debts continue to be AIG, Fanny & Freddy, and GMC and Chrysler, by the way.
Before TARP, early in 2008, Bush signed a $152 billion stimulus bill. This measure resulted in tax rebates of $600 and $1200 for individuals and couples making less than $75,000 and $150,000 respectively (not to big shot corporate moguls or bankers). It is estimated that about $110 to $120 billion of that actually got to these individuals and families. That stimulus failed as most people used it to pay off previous debt and increase their savings.
And I really don't understand your reference to Bush's vetoes and non vetoes, and what this has to do with the subject at hand? By the way, he did vetoe one bill sent to him by a Republican House and Senate. He vetoed 11 bills from Democrat controlled House and Senate.
And ask any good citizen of this country, 2 years with a Democrat controlled House and Senate seems like an interminable amount of time.
