Bush & Obumbler:

No they are not equivelant.

Study their behavior, backgrounds, intentions, methods.   They are far from equivelant.  The most important difference:  Bush wanted the best for our country; Obumbler wants to punish our country.

There is a big difference between the intentions behind TARP and Stimulus.  TARP was directed at saving financial institutions from failure.  Stimulus is directed at increasing jobs by improving the economy.

By the way, TARP was passed under George W. Bush, not Obama.  But most of the bucks have been doled out under Obama.

And the latest CBO TARP watch report (issued last Feb./Mar.) indicates the program will cost the taxpayers about $19 billion (quite a bit less than 852 billion you state).  The outstanding debts continue to be AIG, Fanny & Freddy, and GMC and Chrysler, by the way.

Before TARP, early in 2008, Bush signed a $152 billion stimulus bill.  This measure resulted in tax rebates of $600 and $1200 for individuals and couples making less than $75,000 and $150,000 respectively (not to big shot corporate moguls or bankers).  It is estimated that about $110 to $120 billion of that actually got to these individuals and families.  That stimulus failed as most people used it to pay off previous debt and increase their savings.

And I really don't understand your reference to Bush's vetoes and non vetoes, and what this has to do with the subject at hand?  By the way, he did vetoe one bill sent to him by a Republican House and Senate.  He vetoed 11 bills from Democrat controlled House and Senate.

And ask any good citizen of this country, 2 years with a Democrat controlled House and Senate seems like an interminable amount of time.

"Bush never gets the credit he deserves. NCLB too."

Really?........Really?

How about the Dem controlled Congress and Senate starting early in 2007?  Shouldn't they get a little credit too, since they pass the laws including those that dole out the cash, and those that control the "evil corporations"?   And how about old Teddy (what's the matter...can't you swim) Kennedy?  You know the NCLB author?

Did you read my post about  the economy that Bush handed to the democrats in the House and Senate on 1/03/07? It has gone downhill since that day with no end in sight until 1/20/13. All the Bush bashers refer to figures at the end of '08 and that was two full years after Bush no longer had control of spending.

Bush was still in control until 1/20/09.   You surely don't think a bill rescinding his tax cuts would have gotten his signature.

Even tho dems only control the Senate, they also control the WH and all the bills that could/would help the economy/jobs are sitting in the Senate. And the potus has the cajones to say the GOP is the party of no.

Do you remember all the filibusters and threats thereof?   The R's made it almost universal that for anything to become law it had to have 60 votes in the Senate.   That was their way of saying no and doing nothing.

I do recall the long list of walkouts sponsored by the republicans at that time. They each take turns at doing nothing in the name of bad legislation I guess. I thought then it was a mistake to do that regardless of their stance. The democrasts have done it and round we go. But I had forgotten about some of this stonewalling too. Doesn't make me proud, only sadder about our whole system and the need for term limits and a commonality between what they get and what we get. Especially at the end of said terms. What a deal those horses butts get while the rest of the nation wallows in despair.

I say thank God and the 1806 Senate for accidently inventing the filibuster.  And the 1975 democrat Senate for "improving" it.
