Now here's a man that really knows some history. However, there seems to be some misconception as to who used it most and why. Thank Gof for it's design, but thank congress for abusing it. Can we say Nixononian? HMO? Poor carter didn't have a clue did he.

The longest filibusters in history were conducted by the democrats back in the late 50's and early 60's.  They were filibusters against civil rights, voting rights, and school busing measures.

Cannot rebuff that at all. What has time actually changed in this system. They trade barbs and acuse one another, but won't give it up to save their souls. In a few cases perhaps, it had served a better purpose, but when it's used to gain ground or stall a measure for political purpose, well it just doesn't stand too tall.
