Public Information
Katelyn
I support what you are bringing to the public eye here with your postings. I will try to get you two public employees contracts by the end of this week. Of course these folks work 52 weeks a year with some are getting 1 to 4 weeks of vacation plus a few holidays.
One of the reasons many of us post anonymously is the feed back from the ''school community''. They are getting these wonderful contracts because they hold our kids hostage in the system. If the public doesn't know how great they have it then the over payment of their pay and benefits continues. I guess we could call this ''the ignorance is bless strategy''. Keep the public in the dark and feed them the same old B.S.
Ever notice that the school community continues to complain about how hard they work and how many degrees they have but you see so many of them staying in the system until they have their 30 years in. They know as well as any of us that they can not get it any better some place else. Maybe it is time we find that point of where our teachers go when they reach the breaking point and move on.
We all know that not all of the teacher's in the PEA are the hard working folks that they would like us all to believe. Many times unions protect the poor performers and then cover up that lack of performance by working in teams. I know first hand of teachers here in our district hanging out with our students and drinking in the streets of our neighborhoods. If we are going to place these teachers on a pedestal then they should act the mature part they are paid to play. Can we write it off as immature colleges kids just out for fun? Some are sporting gray hair.
How bad is it when we have teacher's accused of inappropriate behavior with our kids. Then the very same union tries to cover it up because they are ''protecting'' the rights of the teacher? Now let me tell you this, if I were to go out to one of my customers and have displayed inappropriate behavior and that customer called my boss. The contents of my desk would be already packed up for me before I returned to the office. If I committed a crime or something like sexual harassment and it was made public I would have no recourse to remove it from the public record.
The problem in the public schools is the crime is committed against a child and the perpetrator can easily intimidate the child into remaining silent. Even if the child speaks out to another teacher or counselor will it be reported to the parents? I think the case in point was the rape at Mifflin High School a few years ago and the red tape that principal went through and did not call the police. The parent called the police many hours later. I have heard that certain assistant principals here in Pickerington confiscate drugs all the time and just store them in their desk draw until the end of the school year.
It is time to take a harder look at our schools and the people running them.
