Pickerington looks to purchase aquatic facility
PICKERINGTON ?— City council members will meet next week to consider a proposal to purchase The Swim Club, a privately owned outdoor aquatic facility.
The facility sits on 3.9 acres of land. Amenities include an 8,650-square-foot heated pool, a wading pool, bath house, concession stand and paved parking lot.

Thought we were broke
The papers said the city's budget was tight.
Maybe this is state grant money?
The Governor the other day made all kinds of cuts.
Rumblings of a city tax increase?
Smith to the rescue?
Probably not.
We're in the provide skateboarders free business.
We're in the provide the golfers free putting business.
We're in the free tennis business, too.
Do they charge for use the baseball/softball fields?
And we're loooking at the swimming business?
How come no free lacrosse fields?
Or dirt bike trails?
First learn the government business.
Leave the swimming to the private sector.
Maybe the city should also get into the pizza business, too.
And drive thru carry outs.

Don't be a fool
First, the city isn't broke. Things are just tight.
Second, not one taxpayer dollar will be spent on this pool. It is funded 100% through IMPACT FEES. That's why council enacted them way back when - SO DEVELOPERS PAID THEIR WAY AND WE GAIN AMENITIES LIKE A POOL ON THIER DIME!!!

Impact fees for a pool?
Don't be a fool.
They are meant for things that ALL will use.
Police cars.
Roads.
Traffic improvements.
Spending them on a pool for a few will be met with mass public resistance.
