How Much Did You Win
Know when to hold 'um --
Congratulations on winning your bet with Maverick and Soap Box. How much did you win?
Just a friendly reminder ... don't forget to pay 1% of your winnings to PLSD ... our schools could really use the money. I hope you won a bundle from Maverick and Soap Box. Let's us all know ... it may impact the amount of millage that our board will need to ask us to keep our outstanding schools afloat.
Congratulations again!

More Taxes less results.
Mark baby! I got bad news for you; the first professor I called disagrees with you. My financial planner didn?’t understand what you were talking about, and the bank closed at 6 P.M. Give me a couple of days to get through the 6 million people you recommend we call, because we can?’t figure these things about minimal millage financing out, on our own.
If in 2007 they reappraise my house and the new value is higher than it is today then the 10 mills for the bond issue will increase my taxes considerably right? Because like Bruce said this bond issue stays at the 10 mills through its life. This bond issue won?’t drop to an effective millage like the operating levies do. At 3 % per year the appreciation on my $200,000 house will be $231,000 in 2007. So without any vote the school district will be authorized to raise my property taxes by over $100 per year. Mark that is a very conservative growth rate that I penciled in. What happens if we have run away inflation in a couple of years? Let?’s say the house is worth $300,000 in 2007 that increases my taxes by 50%. No Mark you and your rich buddies took the rest of us to the cleaners. Your children will be attending the new schools while the rest of us must pay for your family?’s decadence.
The way you set up the boundaries most of the new kids coming into the district will be attending the old school and their parents will be paying for the new school. The growth is occurring in the City of Pickerington and most of that territory is in the current high school?’s boundaries. Isn?’t Mark?
You know Mark I want to thank you for the fine argument that you put up about the comparisons between Lancaster and Pickerington schools. Mark you are right! Here we have Lancaster City Schools providing about $1,000 more per pupil than PLSD. Their teacher to student ratio is at 14 while Pickerington?’s teacher to student ratio is very near 18. With all of these advantages Lancaster City Schools only scored 16 out of the 27 while Pickerington scored a perfect 27 out of 27. Mark I see some real problems with rising the per pupil funding. Maybe Lancaster City voters have been too generous with the school system and they got fat and let the test scores fall. I?’ll bet this will ruin the children of Lancaster in the future after their graduation. Maybe if they had a little less money to work with in their schools like Pickerington, their students would work a little harder.
Mark we should make the going just as tough as we can here in Pickerington. The well respected Pickerington City Councilman William Wright says he teaches his children hardship. He argues that all these new non poluting homes have no effect on the school system. I think we must drive the per pupil funding even lower. You know the state set that safety net at around $4,800 and I now see that they did it for a good reason. Kids learn more when they don?’t have all of these distraction like playing basketball and soccer.
Uher convinced me! Vote no on November 5th for the school operating levy. Let?’s get tough with our kids!

BIG SURPRISE
My Dear Dr. Pepper:
Sorry ... but it is not a big surprise that you are voting no on the school issue in November. In fact, you have voted no probably on every tax issue on the ballot since 1960.
Let's face facts ...since you have no children in our schools, you could care less about their education. Your comments are make it very clear you have no children in our schools.
In terms of your sky is falling story about 2007 with exploding interest rates ... don't worry. If you cannot pay your taxes on your property here in 2007, you could always sell your property and move to Lancaster. You'll fit in fine there where I am sure there are far less school supporters than here to bother you.
If you do move to Lancaster, I will miss having fun with your comments ... however ... so maybe you can log on to this website and spar with me on occasion. okay?
