I read in the Columbus Dispatch this morning that the Pickerington Girls High School Basketball Coach has been accused of groping at least three of his teenage players. He is also accused of drinking on these out of town trips with these teenage girls present. Please read the front page of The Columbus Dispatch.
Mr. Butcher says, ?“He didn?’t know there was a policy about drinking around these girls.?” Now Wes Monhollen has fixed that problem by a new policy, but Butcher is still the coach. They only suspended him for four games. They have also made the requirement that there be a female administrator present at all times. Does this administrator?’s salary equal that of another needed TEACHER? Do we have a money crisis or not?
I know as a father myself I wouldn?’t allow my teenage daughter to be in a ?“closed?” practice without any female ADULT supervision and she would no longer be playing for this coach. What is the Pickerington School board teaching our children? Wes! FIRE the coach! I know your political power came from the athletic boosters and they put you in office.
REMEMBER BOOZE AND PRETTY TEENAGE GIRLS MIXED WITH A DIRTY OLD MAN DON?’T PAINT A VERY GOOD PICTURE FOR ANYONE.
After all doesn?’t the PLSD tout being 27 out of 27? Isn?’t these 27 out of 27 scores mainly academic achievements? Isn?’t Mr. Butcher?’s primary function in this school system being a school teacher? Do you really believe this warning will stop him from future abuses even if he is innocent now? What happens when he cuts a girl or benches her for poor play? She will go straight to the press. I think Mr. Butcher has been rumored to have a drinking problem for some time now and I have heard that from other coaches here in Pickerington. If Mr. Butcher chooses to drink that is his right and his privilege being an adult. However if he is the chaperon of young teenage girls who?’s parents have left him in charge of their children?’s welfare then he must understand (without a school policy in place) that drinking not only sets a bad example but effects his judgment as an adult.
So if they feel he is innocent then why the policy change and the female adult present? Are there other programs in this PLSD that have problems with coaches drinking or even players drinking and not being held accountable? There are, but as we can see from this exercise SPORTS ARE MORE IMPORTANT HERE IN PICKERINGTON THAN THE WELFARE OF OUR CHILDREN.
