Thanks
for your efforts to have a recount. In this world, you can never be retried for crime. But, if a levy fails, the community leaders keep placing it on the ballot until they get what they want. So, it seems to be a waste of time to vote, as it will pass eventually. It doesn't seem fair. The majority spoke in May. But the exact same levy was replaced onto the ballot and passed.

Good Work
Bruce:
Forget the negative comments from ''Dan''...I hope the recall ends up displacing several city officials, but regardless, since the first day someone brought it up, it's put those folks on the defensive. At minimum, it's ''looming''. Don't believe me? Check their voting records before and after. They're still not doing what the people want, but they're at least looking over their shoulders. Who knows when you'll get enough signatures, or for which one, or if you have them already...council doesn't, and the builders don't.
I suspect Dan is one of those well meaning folks who believes that passing the levy to address the current ''emergency'' is the best thing he can do for the school system, and our kids. It addresses the current shortfall, and it stops the school board from doing all the horrible things they always threaten to do to avoid any real change.
For those with a little longer term perspective, it's just the opposite. The worst thing you can do for a person who can't live within their means is to loan them enough money to buy their way out of their current debt...that just postpones them eventually dealing with the real problem. I believe the correct term is ''enabling''. We have a school board loaded with these folks, and like minded athletic boosters who's job is to make them feel like they're doing the right thing.
No problem...we've given our ''alcholic'' school system ''one more drink'', because the thought of sobering up was just too much for the current administration. Fortunately, like all ''alcholics'', this one drink just prolongs an inevitable crash, and then we can get to the process of recovery. We'll just be a little further down into the gutter when the whole thing finally blows up in our faces.
Bruce, if you can stop that drink half way down the bar, you will have done our school system and community a great service, for which you will surely be criticized and disliked. Usually it's votes that were missed, so start in the precincts that traditionally vote against school levies, and hang in there.
Thanks

35 Precints in PLSD
Ted,
There are 35 voting precints within Pickerington Local School District.
10 - City of Pickerington A-J
18 - Violet Township A-R
5 - City of Columbus A-E
2 - Liberty Township A & D
You should also be aware that there was an automatic recount in November 2000. The bond issue/operating levy passed that year by a vote of 7,959 yes to 7,914 no. Of the 15,873 votes casted that year, NOT ONE VOTE changed in the recount.
So, in my opinion, with far few votes casted and a larger yes margin, you are wasting your time and money. And, when the vote does not change, please let me be the first to tell you, ''I told you so.'' Good luck, however.
