Nobody Listens

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

The ONLY solution is another "hump", period. C'mon Mr. mayor listen to the people for we have spoken.

I did run for commission and was the 5th person that ran. The four others that ran were already on the commission and were practically "grandfathered" in already. I live on the Shelbyville road end of N. Chadwick as well and if the Mayor had any sence he would see the urgency and need for another hump or two. Wake up Mr. Mayor.

Henry, he can't hear you. He doesn't want to hear you.  His shepherd complex gets in the way.  And, Henry, he has a lot of sense - it shows when he pretends to listen.  He had me fooled for a long time.  Boy, it was surely hard to admit that.

If you read his January message on this site, you will see why.  For some reason, he is proposing to "Rent A Cop" at $38.00 per hour.  We already pay taxes to Metro, now he wants to hire Graymore-Devondale officers somewhat alike the way Lyndon does???.  Forget LMPD????  Is that what he is saying?????

Bellemeade is already withdrawing $15,000.00 per year from reserves just to do what is done now.  But, he wants to spend more?  How can that work short of an increase in taxes?

Look at the budget and see how long Bellemeade can continue to exist at the rate it is going now.  Not a lot of $15,000.00 increments left in that reserve fund.

Elementary school math course as food for thought:

      7 x 24 = 168 hours in a week

      60 hours police protectiom x $38.00 = $2280.00

Cost of one speed hump                       $2000.00

61,320 numbers of hours the speed hump will be there annually.

$2, 330,160.00  cost of 24/7/365 police protection at $38.00 per hour.

Just how many hours can we afford?  How many hours would Bellemeade contract for?  Who gets to decide when the RentACop is on duty?  What if RentACop is not on duty when Thug Doe tries to break nto my house?  Do we call Metro or RentACop? Or both?.

If I call 911 for police emergency, who responds? What do we do if RentACop writes speeding citations but misses the court date?  Do we pay RentACop $38.00 per hour to show up in court?  How do the citizens of Bellemeade get informed about all of that given the fact that we don't find out about a lot of stuff now except in a newsletter.  How will new residents find out?

Henry, when the next election comes in less than two years, bring me your papers;  I will sign them and will go door-to-door to help you get elected.  You too Steve.

Anybody else?

How do the other commissioners think about the RentACop proposal?  Mr.  Brian Hill, surely you don't agree with that plan?  I know you are more level-headed than that.

The first paragraph in my previous post soundd very mean when I read it just now.  My apology to everyone and especially Mayor Odon-Groh.

I let my frustration about the cars sleeding past my home cloud my thinking and the anger came out in that post (maybe others).  For that, I am sorry.
