There is in fact a bylaw that states the lake is not to be used for boating, canoe or fishing. The board did take the action of putting a sign up because of issues of people fishing in homeowners back yards. I was at the meeting when it came about. I also believe the sign gives the sheriff's department the right to enforce it if you were to call them when someone is breaking the rule. Sharmin is very helpful and not to make excuses but she has so many properties she could have mistaken one for another.

Wow, this discussion area is working. We can all post negatively, positively, complaining, being helpful and there are some great answers to come from it. Keep posting and talking to one another, just don't take anything personal or call anyone names to start a feud. Keep a smile on your face if at all possible. This makes an administrator feel great right now.  Surprised

Sharmin was very nice and i had a really good conversation with her, it just seems that she felt anyway, that the consensus was our community was not desirous of enforcement, as it generated fees.  In addition, it sounded as if the concerns i raised with her had already been raised & not dealt with.......  i dont take anything away from her personally or professionally.....i think shes just a middle man..........when she gets a call re: violation, does she send it to the board and then they investigate and make the final decision ?  how does that work ?  i have called the sheriff re:  fishing, they never show.......during these times, the fishermen are always parked on grass and sidewalk, can this be considered trespassing ?  if as sharmin says, that its not in the bylaws, then can we fish ?

I believe the problem is that there is no 'Enforcement Committee' to deal with violations. If there were enough people from the community to get involved and take on this responsbility violations could be dealt with and resolved. It's not desirous from the board's point of view as they feel there is bigger concerns, namely the lake. From the past meeting that was held there was a gentleman from the community that dug up all the paperwork that he could find on the lake and what the community was supposed to have done a few years back. There is paperwork that needed to be signed off by Southwest Water Management District (not sure about the entity) upon inspection that the lake was planted with particular plants. This was never done. So, the priority is to get this paperwork signed off and then we'll be released from the water monitoring that is costing us $1,000 a month. This is all my understanding from memory of that meeting about a month ago. Don't quote me on any of this. I'm hoping I can get factual paperwork or meeting minutes on all this in the future. My getting elected to the board will help in getting the facts to the residents here where all can read and understand what's happening.

In addition, it sounded as if the concerns i raised with her had already been raised & not dealt with.......  i dont take anything away from her personally or professionally.....i think shes just a middle man....Exactly!......when she gets a call re: violation, does she send it to the board and then they investigate and make the final decision ?  how does that work ?

My understanding is that Sharmin makes her bi-weekly drive-bys and writes down what she believes are violations. She then submits them to the board for reveiw. The board then give Sharmin back an edited list of who they want violations notices sent to. Some call this 'Selective Enforcement'. Wouldn't it be nice to see posted here what the board considers a violacation? And, what violations are being relaxed for the month if so. Come to the meeting and ask questions, help me get some facts posted to this board for all to read.

i have called the sheriff re:  fishing, they never show.......during these times, the fishermen are always parked on grass and sidewalk, can this be considered trespassing ?  if as sharmin says, that its not in the bylaws, then can we fish ?

Here's an idea. Go to eBay, search for 'Security or Police Badge', try pulling this badge out when you confront the perpetrators and tell them to leave the premises. Might just work. The sheriff department is overworked and most likely puts this type of call low on the priority list as they chase speeders and run to traffic accidents. So, we have to take matters into our own hands.

I think we should put together a 'Crime Watch' committee, meet every so often and discuss the issues. What do you think? I'll volunteer my house. Is Friday nights good for you? We don't go out. I'm always looking for an excuse to make a drink. Cool
