Just needing to vent!!! Since when have schools decided its ok to hand out detentions to good kids who are no disciplinary problem because they forgot their planner at home??? Punishing kids for a minor oversight is wrong. In my day, detentions were for causing trouble. I have had it with a school that lets girls be called very bad names by a troublesome boy yet punishes good kids for forgetting a daily planner at home. Seems a little off to me, and they wonder why they have problems???

Schools are messed up. My kid likes in school detention. Gets him out of class. It's too bad his mom's a teacher at the same school. You might want to take this up with the school board.

Yeah I am getting close to letting them all have it!! A boy is calling these little girls names I can't repeat here and when brought to the attention of the teacher he is told to be quiet. yet my daughter forgets her planner in my car ( she has to carry 2 backpacks for all the stuff they send home with them) and they make HER serve a detention??? So should I encourage her to be disrespectful and a name caller or just plain ol' forgetful??? Seems the first route is the better way to go!!!

As a mother of six I have seen many crazy ideas schools come up with, this one included. But MUSC has crazy ideas about school registration also !Stand in line to be handed some papers to be filled out to stand in line to be told that you now have to go stand in line to fill out some papers to be hande in to go stand in line to pay for your kid to get detentions for not having their planner while teachers chronocally let out bus students late so they miss the bus that I had to stand in line to pay for, so that they could let out the bus students late so the could miss the bus call me at work to come get them, so now it costs me to come get my kid. Crazy isnt it.
