Annoy means; annoy. A kid with a basketball in the culdesac at 11 pm. A car with a loud stereo. A lawnmower at 8am on Sunday. A helicopter hovering nearby. Something that disturbs people. Any people. And, yes, an ATV might annoy someone.

Hey Pappy, annoy isn't always annoy. If I work nights, my "morning" really starts around noon, so my neighbor starting a mower at 11 am is annoying. I seriously doubt if the PD is going to act on my annoyances. Similarly, if a dog is barking non-stop for 5-6 hours, I think that is annoying to most of us. Th PD has strict guidelines on how that must be stopped. A friend actually had that problem and was told that he must log the times and then my buddy had to take the guy to court. He was also told that if the barking happened during the day, a judge would usually throw it out. It's still annoying. I actually spoke to a cop writing a tickets to a noisy ATV. The ATV in question was actually quieter than most lawnmowers. I mean, when a cop is having a conversation with a guy in a normal voice while the motor is running, how annoying could that have been? But then again, how many times have the cops acted on "A kid with a basketball in the culdesac at 11 pm. A car with a loud stereo. A lawnmower at 8am on Sunday. A helicopter hovering nearby." I do appreciate your attempt to diffuse the situation, but there seems to be another agenda going on out here. Too bad those with the agenda aren't as cooperative as yourself at trying to calm the flames. |
