Conflict of Interest
Definition of conflict of interest from Wikipedia:
''A conflict of interest is a situation in which someone in a position of trust, such as a lawyer, a politician, or an executive or director of a corporation, has competing professional or personal interests. Such competing interests can make it difficult to fulfill his or her duties impartially. Even if there is no evidence of improper actions, a conflict of interest can create an appearance of impropriety that can undermine confidence in the ability of that person to act properly in his/her position.''
Tell me how this doesn't apply to Hackworth and Hammond.
It's funny that Wisniewski was all over Fix about the appearance of impropriety by gathering his four votes ahead of any council vote on the Economic Development Agreement. He's right about this.
But Wisniewski is OK with Hackworth and Hammond selectively raising taxes on non-retired citizens while lowering their own taxes, and the two of them gathering their votes ahead of any council vote.
I think Wisniewski is better than this.
Or the whole damn lot of them is corrupt. But I just don't believe that about Wisniewski.

what is the proposal?
What in the world are you people talking about? We got someone complaining about the possibility of a City Councilman or Councilwoman proposing a property tax CUT!!! and you are calling them unethical.
First you gave us the answer, what was the question. What is Mr. Hackworth proposing? Or what is Mrs. Hammond proposing?
I am not sure of what is being proposed; but maybe someone here can publish the proposal. All I have read in the paper and on this web site is that some members of council appear to be looking into how we tax ourselves. If they can find a better way or a way to help the retirees maybe we should consider what they have to offer. If they actually lower the property taxes wouldn't it also benefit the other homeowners in the city?
I think before we start having these knee jerk reactions to what we think or might think about something we should first wait to see what is being offered. I also think any substantial change in the local tax structure will need to be voted on by the citizens of Pickerington.
