Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

The Answer: Ted Hackworth

Planning for retirement

I will be retiring in two years. I plan to leave this city because of the taxes. Because of the sluggish existing home market caused by the schools, my house if for sale now. If it sells before I retire I will move into an apartment. But after retirement I have to move somewhere with lower taxes to survive.

If Hackworth has a proposal for lowering my taxes, I AM LISTENING. I have been here for 30 years, raised a family here and buried some of them here. I don't WANT to leave but will HAVE to with the taxes.
Uncalled For Insult

If all you've got are insults, then you have nothing to say.
Planning for Retirement

If you were truly planning for retirement, you would have invested your money with the knowledge that you would be paying property taxes, even after retirement. The city doesn't tax retirement income, so anything you put into 401(k)s, IRAs, Annuities, etc. isn't taxed.

Please feel free to move. We need people who can plan better in this community.
Thanks so much

Thank you for your 20/20 hindsight. It so refreshing to hear what I SHOULD have done.

I put three kids through college, thank you very much. I drive a 1985 compact car, thank you very much.

There wasn't enough left over in my check for IRAs and 401s.
